Standing on her own, but she does fall over. I have to adjust the base, or decide to use the little tunnels to thread an invisible thread through and attach it to the ceiling.

Inversion: Meditation On A Dystopian Future right

Paper, adhesive, acrylic paint, chicken wire, acrylic sheet.

Acrylic pad 300 x 300 mm; H 270 mm W 280 mm D 300 mm

The state of the world, a future beyond that which I can hope to see, riches beyond belief causing misery beyond belief; shorthand for the meditative process that created this work.

Paper, adhesive, acrylic paint, acrylic sheet

The state of the world, our longing for acceptance-belonging-being at home/whanaungatanga; conflict, isolation, separation - just a few words that spring from feelings that created this work, layer on layer.

Here are two open spaces punctuated by built features paradoxically united and kept apart by transparent but impervious walls. There is no stair way connecting the two levels; no perforations, no gaps. Imagine the spaces scaled up, populated by human beings.

The feet are hollow spaces, the open space between them the necessarily confined and connected space in which all things must be approached and negotiated. The only possible retreat is back to one of the sources. The ridge along the space disappearing into the hollows  is the path of consensus. The ridges on the exterior of the feet may be seen as representing complexity and diversity; the interesting, the valuable.

Like a love seat. The lovers face each other, close but able to walk away. There is the elusive comfort and freedom we long for, of which there seem to be so few examples on any scale.

Paper is an amazing material: easy to find and recycle, easy to work with, malleable when wet; strong, and each layer is surprisingly thick.
See the bands
around the feet and a horizontal
rib along the open section. Right.
